Our Adoption Journey

And so we meet

We officially put our hearts out there last night and went to meet the little guy that we are trying very hard to become parents to.  We knew that meeting him would make this even harder if it doesn’t work out, but we also knew that if we didn’t do everything we could possibly do we would feel like we hadn’t tried hard enough.  Essentially, if we begin to form some sort of relationship with him over the next few weeks, that’s more than any other family submitting a homestudy will have and it could help to work in our favor.  We knew it was a risk…

We ate with him, we played with him, we tickled his belly, spun him around, threw him in the air, built mega blocks castles, giggled, tickled his toes, and just absolutely fell in love with him.  Apparently, he was a big fan of us as well because as we were putting our shoes on to leave he went to get his backpack and wanted Brian to help him put it on.  Then he reached for me to pick him up and waved to his foster parents and said ‘bye.’  His foster mom and I were practically in tears, it was like he knew.  So out to our car we went, in tears, praying that this little man who just stole our hearts might one day be our son.

We talked about him the whole way home, we dreamed about him, we woke up and we thought about him….yet somehow we are cautious, knowing that this may not be God’s plan and trusting that if it is not that he will heal our hearts and show us his plan.

Please pray with us.

Oh, it must have been so hard to walk to the car after that. What a brave thing you are doing putting your hearts out there. And regardless of what happens, your mini pooper had a great play time and my bet is that he knew he was with people who loved him already. You were meant to be there in that moment for HIM – and like the good parents you already are, you did what HE needed.

I hope beyond hopes that this works out for you. It sounds like he has stolen your hearts already.
